Course Description
This course will teach project management through the processes of planning, execution, and control of projects. Another important part of the course addresses the management of project personnel. The students will also be introduced to the nine knowledge areas of the Project Management Institute's Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK) and to the appropriate use of project management software tools such as Microsoft Project.
Course Objectives
Upon Completion of the course you will be able to:
- Know the roles of a Project Manager
- Understand the project management life cycle
- Manage risk by anticipating it, controlling it and including it in the project estimate
- Detect problems and fix them before crises arise
- Control a project within schedule, cost and quality constraints
- Use automated project management tools assist in project planning and control
- Apply project scope management including creating a Work Breakdown Structure
- Use using PERT, Gantt and other scheduling techniques to manage time
- Write proper project documents such as proposals, plans, requests for proposal, specifications, and tests
- Assemble an appropriate project team, assign responsibilities, motivate and manage the team
- Know when and where to use project management software most effectively
