Information Management
Companies spend millions of dollars managing critical information. Cost
and complexity soar as the enterprise information load increases. What's
more, much of this corporate information is hard-wired into information silos
where it gets trapped, making it difficult to access and to leverage within
dynamic business processes. Sybase's Information Management products help
manage information complexity, increase information liquidity, and break down
those internal barriers to ensure that information is consistently useful,
relevant, and ready to deliver economic value.
Available Information Management Services:
Database Servers
Sybase IQ
Sybase IQ is a highly scalable relational database architected for analytics -
not transactions - with a column-based structure, patented indexing, easier to
maintain than traditional databases, supports hundreds even thousands of users
and terabytes of data, delivers 100 times faster query performance and
compresses data storage form 30 to 60 percent.
IQ allows data warehousing teams to more rapidly implement the data warehouse,
buy allowing warehouse-style queries against schemas originally optimized for
OLTP. This feature alone can save companies thousands of dollars in data
warehouse implementations and ETL activity.
Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise
Sybase ASE provides reliable data management and transaction processing, and is
easy to deploy and maintain. Sybase ASE includes built-in self management
tools with wizards to automate routine tasks and Job Scheduler. ASE
provides performance enhancing features such as index sampling, smart SQL
statement cache, parallel recovery, backup compression, scalable logging, and
advance database reorganization. Sybase ASE is highly reliable data
management platforms that support the demanding needs of mission critical
enterprises.
SQL Anywhere Studio
SQL Anywhere Studio is an industry-leading data management tool which enables the rapid development and deployment of database-powered mobile applications. SQL Anywhere Studio features a powerful database known as Adaptive Server Anywhere with advanced synchronization for both occasionally-connected and near real-time environments. It is easy to use and administer, providing out of the box performance. And it runs on Pocket PC and Palm powered devices too.
Sybase Dynamic Archive
Sybase Dynamic Archive is an innovative, new approach to managing data
growth. It allows organizations to intelligently and automatically manage
business transactional data through its lifecycle - by offloading inactive data
from the production system, while keeping archived data fully accessible
online.
Sybase Real-Time Data Service
Sybase Real-Time Data Services is the first solution to proactively push
time-critical data from heterogeneous enterprise databases to messaging
architectures, eliminating the "information lags" created by batch updates or
intermittent polling processes. Sybase Real-Time Data Services combines
heterogeneous data movement with real-time messaging in one easily integrated,
open standards-based solution, eliminating the need for custom coding and
lowering total cost of ownership.
Synchronization, Movement & Access
Sybase Replication Server
Replication Server simplifies data movement and synchronization across the
enterprise. It allows DBA's to quickly setup redundant disaster recovery
sites and synchronize data across heterogeneous database platforms -- Sybase
ASE, Oracle, IBM DB2 and Microsoft SQL Server.
Sybase Mirror Activator
Sybase Mirror Activator works in conjunction with disk block replication
synchronizing systems by replicating only the log of data that has changed.
The standby system can be used for operational activities such as
decision support and reporting, enhancing the return on investment for these
complex, costly--yet essential--disaster recovery systems.
Middleware Integration
Replication Connectors
Sybase RepConnector enables real-time event and information delivery among
enterprise applications without having to change existing application
code. This off-the-shelf product captures business events, transforms
them to formats used by other applications, and delivers them to TIBCO
®,
IBM
® WebSphere
TM MQ (MQSeries
TM),
Sybase EAServer
TM or any JMS compliant
messaging infrastructure across the enterprise. These end-messages can be
easily shared with other applications using Sybase Process Server and
Integration Servers.
Sybase Replication Agents
Replication Agent and Replication Server provide a flexible approach for
getting information from various database management systems and into the
database of your choice and the location of your choice. Replication
technology enables organizations to replicate information in Microsoft SQL
Server, Oracle, Informix, and DB2 UDB (OS/390, NT and UNIX) data sources in
near real time in order to place that information where it can be most
effectively used. The replication process is completely transparent and
asynchronous to the applications that are changing the source data.
Data Modeling
PowerDesigner
Power Designer is a robust modeling tool providing application modeling through
UML, Business Process Modeling, simulation, impact analysis, XML and Web
Services techniques. It supports Conceptual, Logical and Physical Data models,
including Warehouse Modeling. If your company is considering moving to
PowerDesigner from ERWin or other relational data modeling tools, then our
PowerDesigner workshops may be for you.
Information Delivery
Sybase Enterprise Portal
Sybase Enterprise Portal (EP) is an open and scalable portal framework that
provides an intuitive, secure and personalizable environment for end-users;
rapid development and deployment tools for developers; and an easy-to-use
console for administrators. Point and click wizards and graphic
deployment tools allow business users to manage entire portal projects and
reduce the strain on IT resources. Companies can maintain incumbent
platforms and reduce expenses when developing portal solutions because Sybase
EP is compatible with leading J2EE application servers and databases. A
portal solution can be up and running within days instead of months.
